Most articulate response to censorship I’ve ever read:

In Charleston, West Virginia, one of the schools, Nitro
High School, is going through a controversy regarding banning books by Pat
Conroy.  An AP class has read two of
Conroy’s Books, and now parents and community members have challenged them, and
the board of education has formed a committee comprised of teachers and
community members which has been charged with determining whether the Conroy
books should be banned or not.  While the
controversy continues, it looks to me that the books will be banned.  In today’s Charleston Gazette, our state’s
largest paper, Conroy has a letter regarding this controversy.  It is a letter that I will keep with me for
years to come, and I thought others of our community who have faced or may face
book challenges might appreciate Conroy’s comments, so I share it with  you:
